MAS presents “NEW MUSEUM” – an electro-acoustic sojourn through contemporary compositions for a modern time.
MAS (Melbourne Amplified Strings) was co-founded by violinist Xani Kolac and cellist Anita Quayle to create opportunities for contemporary string players to explore and experiment with amplification and electronic effects. MAS presents four concerts per year collaborating with artists from many different and diverse cultural and genre backgrounds.
NEW MUSEUM is the first concert for 2020 and features guest collaborator, contemporary classical pianist Georgina Lewis.
MAS will present a program of works selected and/or composed by each performer meditating on the concept of “the museum”. The museum is a space for education and history, as well as remarkable moments in time. However, it is also a space for sharing ideas, for great debates and about ordinary people exploring ordinary things.
