Octopus Energy is to supply Salzgitter Flachstahl with 126,000 MWh of clean electricity for green steel production under a 10-year Power Purchase Agreement (PPA).
The demand for Power Purchase Agreements (PPAs) is on a steep incline, due to the increasing pressure on accelerating the energy transition. Not only are PPAs the main source of income for renewable energy projects, and therefore relevant to all parties involved (from project developers to investors), PPAs are also required by other parties, such as energy suppliers and corporates, to have access to renewable energy.
Power purchase agreements (PPAs) are growing in popularity in Poland due to high energy prices and the declining appeal of renewable energy auctions. Nevertheless, regulatory changes have created uncertainty and reduced attractiveness.
