Residents rally to support Basking Ridge gas station owner

BERNARDS TWP. – A group of more than 20 residents staged a rally at the Stonehouse Shell service station on Monday, Dec. 21, in support of the longtime business owner who is facing eviction. Owner Eileen Nock, 73, a Basking Ridge resident, said she has been ordered to leave the business she and her late husband, Frank, operated for 30 years. Nock said she is involved in a “complicated’’ legal battle with Leigh Gas of Allentown, Pa., part of Cross America Partners, and is being “unfairly evicted’’ from the station as of Dec. 30, “during this horrible pandemic and holiday season.’’ She said she was given 14 days to “move all of my belongings from the property’’ after having lost a court case over rent and other accounting issues. She said she has an attorney and is considering an appeal.
