Missouri program launches to ensure vaccine access for seniors

JEFFERSON CITY, Mo. – A program designed to assist older Missourians with accessing COVID-19 vaccine launched earlier this week. In partnership with the Department of Health and Senior Services (DHSS), Missouri’s Area Agencies on Aging (AAAs) will assist seniors with online vaccination registration, coordinate round trip transportation to and from their vaccination appointments, and conduct reminder calls for seniors’ second doses. “Navigating the web and registering online can be a challenge for seniors, so we’re working closely with the AAAs to provide hands-on assistance with the process and make sure that folks have safe transportation to their appointments,” said Jessica Bax, director of the Division of Senior and Disability Services. “This partnership with the AAAs will ensure all Missouri seniors are able to access their vaccine.”

University of Missouri fails to have discrimination suit dismissed

It failed. Why? The severance and liability agreement, although it used references to the University of Missouri, was between the woman and a foundation not owned by the university.  Ann McGruder filed a complaint against the university in July 2018 with the Missouri Human Rights Commission over alleged sex discrimination and retaliation, according to court documents. McGruder was working as associate director of administration in the department of surgery at the Ellis Fischel Cancer Center. She started in that position in August 2016, but was laid off during a department reorganization. She did not sign a layoff and transition assistance program form from the university, which would have released it from employment-related claims.
