According to an application lodged by Axis Mason architects on behalf of Dandara, the Mayfair, which has 222 beds, could be replaced by 37 one-bedroom and 67 two-bedroom homes.
It follows other plans also announced this week to demolish the Revere, Stafford and Apollo Hotels to deliver a combined total of 201 flats.
Meanwhile, next door to the Mayfair site on St Saviour’s Road, Andium Homes are hoping to obtain permission to build 271 apartments on the former Ann Street Brewery premises. This is in addition to 169 homes already being built by the same company on the nearby site of the former Ann Court estate and around 145 homes being constructed on Le Masurier’s ‘Merchants’ Square’ Bath Street complex.

THE former Ann Street Brewery site could become too densely developed if plans to build 271 apartments there are approved, the Jersey Architecture Commission has warned.

In a seven-page letter the organisation says the scheme is a ‘lost opportunity’ to set an example for housing providers in the Island.
The planning application for the site was lodged by Dandara, which is acting on behalf of Andium Homes. The proposal includes a 2,000sq-m mini-woodland, new walking and cycling paths and the creation of underground parking for 340 bikes and 163 cars.
If the plans are approved it would mean that at least 953 homes will be built in the north of town, when taking other schemes into account.
