Lately, I ve been on a nostalgia kick. I just wrote an article about a website that lists songs that were number one on the U.S. singles charts during each of our birthdays, bringing back memories of the songs we rocked to during our special day.
And sometimes, my co-workers like to trip me up with Southern Tier trivia. I am terrible at trivia, even though I may know the answer. It seems my brain freezes up and I can t get out the correct answer, although I know what it is.
This week, one of my co-workers decided to take a trip to the Binghamton Library and take some shots of some Triple Cities photos from the past. He wanted to see if I could recognize the locations of these pictures.
I have two kids that have graduated from the Chenango Valley School District and my youngest, Tara is in 11th grade. They are proud to call CV their school and I love being in the school district.
The pandemic made so many things difficult on every school and CV did what they could to get through the extraordinary times. One of the things that the kids were able to do was the High School Musical, on Stage play.
Tara played the part of Taylor McKessie and everyone did an OUTSTANDING job. Being able to get on stage and pull this off is something that the students and community will never forget. They ll be streaming the play soon for everyone to enjoy and I ll give an update on that when it gets closer.
Spiediefest & Balloon Rally at Otsingingo Park has been a Southern Tier tradition for over 35 years. This event brought spiedies, hot air balloons, live music, and the community together on the first weekend in August. Then COVID-19 hits and just like everything else, Spiediefest was brought to a halt and we wondered if it would be coming back.
Spiediefest Is Back On
WE HAVE GOOD NEWS! Spiediefest is back for 2021 and it has a new date. It s moving to later in the year and it ll be October 8th, 9th, and 10th at Otsinigo Park. Spiedefest brings an antique car show, sand volleyball tournaments, vendors, craft shows surrounding the park, a children s area with rides for the kids, and a whole lot more. It is truly a family-friendly event.
