Interim head coach Chris Tabor made his debut in the Panthers’ top job on Sunday against the Tampa Bay Buccaneers. We graded Carolina under new leadership.

Breakdowns at key times and missed opportunities doomed the Carolina Panthers in interim coach Chris Tabor’s debut. Carolina (1-11) scored late to pull within a field goal, but the Panthers didn't get closer in Sunday's 21-18 loss to the Tampa Bay Buccaneers. The Panthers fired Frank Reich last Monday, 11 games into the coach’s first season with the team.

Carolina lost 21-18 to Tampa Bay on Sunday, dropping to a 1-11 record in the first game the Panthers played since coach Frank Reich was fired.

The Carolina Panthers are doing a great job tanking for the Chicago Bears, who are in good position to secure a No. 1 pick.

Bryce Young certainly wasn’t expecting to start his NFL career on a 1-11 team. Young has struggled all season and ranks near the bottom of the league in most statistical QB categories. Panthers interim coach Chris Tabor believes this year's experience will pay big dividends for the No. 1 overall pick as he moves forward, reminiscent of the cliche that what doesn't kill you makes you stronger.

Ilya Sorokin stopped 42 shots, Julien Gauthier scored early in the third period and the New York Islanders beat the Florida Panthers 4-3 on Saturday. Brock Nelson and Bo Horvat each had two assists for the Islanders, who were without forward Mathew Barzal because of an illness, and Gauthier also had a two-point night.

The Panthers have lost each of their past three home games.

Matthew Tkachuk has scored just four goals through the Florida Panthers’ first 24 games.

Brock defeated District 4-3A D1 foe Paradise for a second time this season, but this time it was for a berth in the Class 3A D1 state semifinals.
