A man is accusing of shooting and killing his girlfriend's brother near Rural and Southern on March 5. He fled the scene, police say, but add that he turned himself in 10 days later.
Sterling Evans surrendered himself to Tempe police on Monday in connection with the murder of Anthony Bulerin.
Evans, 31, was wanted in connection with the homicide of Bulerin, 37, on March 5, a police press release said.
Police responded to multiple calls about a shooting at a residence near Rural Road and Alameda Drive and found Bulerin inside with a gunshot wound. Court documents said a shell casing and a significant amount of blood were found on the floor. Bulerin was transported to a local hospital and later pronounced dead.
An investigation revealed Evans and his girlfriend were in an argument in the home, police said. When the woman s brother tried to intervene and de-escalate the argument, Evans reportedly took out a handgun and fatally shot his girlfriend s brother.
