Upcoming Fights: Junior Lightweight: (1) Miguel Berchelt vs (5) Oscar Valdez, Feb. 20 Minimumweight: (9) Vic Saludar vs Robert Paradero, Feb. 20 Notes: Neither are ranked, but Otto Wallin might make his case if he impresses this coming Saturday against Dominic Breazeale. Breazeale is no top contender, but he’s got power and can be dangerous. If Wallin handles that fight nicely, he’s going to have a solid case, given his only loss is to Tyson Fury, and I still say — correctly — that fig...

The former two-time super middleweight titlist will be back in about a month.

Ed Mulholland/Matchroom USA | Mikey Williams/Top Rank | Josh Hedges/Zuffa LLC/Zuffa LLC via Getty Images More than any other time in modern history, any schedule right now still needs to come with a solid knock on wood, but after a very slow run where we got almost nothing of real note in January, the boxing schedule is set to heat up and get really busy in February. It’s honestly against the odds right now that every fight on this list will actually happen, but let’s hope! My picks for th...

Caleb Truax unlikely to uproot Caleb Plant Veteran Caleb Truax challenges Caleb Plant for his old IBF title, writes Matt Bozeat POUND-FOR-POUND king Saul “Canelo” Alvarez saying he intends to unify the 168lbs division this year adds interest to Caleb Plant’s defence of his IBF belt against veteran overachiever Caleb Truax in Los Angeles on Saturday (January 30) night. Talks about a Canelo-Plant fight broke down last year. Canelo instead took the WBA belt from Callum Smith last month while...

Caleb Truax felt like an afterthought as he sat through the traditional prefight news conference a few days before his world title bout in London last week. His opponent, England’s James DeGale, was the star attraction. The former Olympic champion held the IBF supermiddleweight title and was fighting on his home turf. DeGale was returning to the ring after an 11-month layoff because of injury. Truax was supposed to be a tune-up for DeGale, a chance to knock off some rust before moving on to b...

One man who could really have a break out year in 2021 is 28-year-old Caleb Plant. ‘Sweet Hands’ only fought once in 2020, but starts this year as he hopes to go on with a third defence of his IBF Super Middleweight title. Plant (20-0, KO12) puts his belt on the line against a former holder of the same title in Minnesota’s Caleb Truax (31-4-2, KO19), and the contest tops a Premier Boxing Champions bill. Plant turned professional in 2014 under the wing of the notorious Al Haymon, and came ...

Canelo will return to the ring on February 27th in Miami.

Why is Canelo Alvarez fighting Avni Yildirim? John Dennen considers what to make of Canelo Alvarez boxing Avni Yildirim this weekend in Miami FIRSTLY, it should be said, Canelo Alvarez vs Avni Yildirim is not a fair fight. Alvarez is better than him in every department. The Mexican has a far higher skill level, better power, resilience, experience. Canelo has fought vastly better opposition. He’s beaten the world’s leading super-middleweight in Callum Smith, toppled light-heavyweight champi...

Posted on 01/22/2021 By: Hans Themistode There’s a huge misconception going around according to Caleb Plant concerning his super middleweight showdown with David Benavidez. For years now, both fighters have spent most of their time calling each other out at every turn. However, the persistent derogatory words hurled at one another haven’t led to any signed bout agreements. While most of the boxing world is still pissed off that their contest hasn’t come to fruition, Plant urges the publi...
