Contributed photo February 13, 2021 THE Cebu City Emergency Operations Center (EOC) added more personnel and resources for its extraction efforts to meet the rising number of coronavirus disease 2019 (Covid-19) cases.
Harold Alcontin, City Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Office (CDRRMO) operations head and in-charge of extraction team, said personnel and ambulances from CDRRMO helped fast-track efforts of the EOC extraction team.
CDRRMO head Ramil Ayuman added 20 personnel for the extraction team.
Ten more barangay isolation centers with 762-bed capacity have also been opened to accommodate new cases.
The additional resources have helped the Cebu City EOC address the spike in coronavirus disease cases.
Presidential Assistant for the Visayas Sec. Michael Lloyd Dino called on Filipinos to consider the victory of Lapulapu in the Battle of Mactan as an inspiration in the fight against COVID-19.
This was the message of Dino at the start of the 100-day countdown towards the 2021 Quincentennial Commemorations in the Philippines (QCP) on Jan. 17.
The Philippines is set to mark the 500th anniversary of the Victory at Mactan, the Philippine part in the first circumnavigation of the world, on April 27, 2021.
The Battle of Mactan depicts the Filipino s serious yearning and regard for liberty and independence, Dino noted in a speech read by Assistant Sec. Anthony Gerard Jonji Gonzales in Lapulapu Monument in Mactan, Lapu-Lapu City.
