Robyn Williams: So, with all that attention on the cosmos, what is our space agency in Adelaide hoping to do next? Here s its Deputy CEO, Anthony Murfett.
Anthony Murfett: Thanks Robyn, great to be here. Big plans for the Australian Space Agency in 2021. Firstly we ve got our new head of the agency that has started, Enrico, he is bringing immense experience from industry, and really targeting how we re going to grow and transform Australia s space industry, create those 20,000 jobs and triple the size of the sector.
What we are going to do is start developing these technical roadmaps. We released the first one at the end of last year on advanced communications, and that talks about Australia s opportunity in quantum communications, the internet of things combined with satellites and hybrid technologies bringing RF communications and optical communications together. And we ll look at some of the other areas of opportunity for us that Australia can put into space
