Three men have been charged in the March 9 shooting death of a 22-year-old Newark men after their SUV was stopped by police in Irvington, authorities said.
Tyshon Armour, 19, of Newark; Reynold Henderson, 18, of Irvington; and Isaad S. Jackson, 20 of Newark, were charged with murder, conspiracy to commit murder, possession of a weapon for an unlawful purpose and unlawful possession of a weapon, Acting Essex County Prosecutor Theodore N. A 24-year-old Newark man was in custody on accusations he robbed a city resident at knifepoint, authorities said.
Police responded to a call about a robbery in progress on the 400 block of Ferry Street around 3:45 p.m., where a victim told officers that a man with a box cutter took his phone and money, Newark Public Safety Director Anthony F. Ambrose said.
Officers on patrol arrested Tyrone Boykins moments later, when they saw him in the neighborhood several blocks away at Wilson Avenue and Kossuth Street, Ambrose said.
He was charged with robbery and possession of a weapon for an unlawful purpose.

A woman jumped from the roof of a Newark home in a fire that displaced two families Friday morning.
Flames and smoke were coming out of the top floor window the 2.5-story home at 384 South 19th St., when firefighters arrived around 9:20 a.m., Newark Public Safety Director Anthony F. Ambrose said.
A woman inside the home jumped from the roof to safety, and was transported to University Hospital for treatment.
No other injuries were been reported.
The fire was considered under control just before 9:45 a.m., displacing two families comprised four adults and two children, Ambrose said.
