BU’s 11th president, Melissa L. Gilliam, beamed as she took the stage at the Tsai Performance Center to address the University community for the first time.
Melissa L. Gilliam will be Boston University’s 11th president, the University trustees announced on Wednesday. She will assume the post on July 1, 2024.
The university's board of trustees announced Gilliam, 58, will begin steering the university as its 11th president next July. Previously, the career educator had spent the past two years working as the executive vice president and provost at Ohio State.
The presidential search committee charged with finding Boston University’s 11th president has been finalized. Input from the BU community is being welcomed.
Antoinette “Tonie” Leatherberry (ENG’85) will chair the search committee tasked with selecting the next president of Boston University. Robert A. Brown announced on September 7 that after 17 years as president, he would retire at the end of the 2022-2023 academic year.
