Local Body Polls: Supreme Court has a Shock for AP Government:- The government of Andhra Pradesh and the State Election Commission are at loggerheads over the local body polls which got delayed due to the coronavirus pandemic. When the Election Commission is ready to conduct the polls, the AP Government opposed their move. This headed for a legal fight. The High Court recently granted permission to conduct the local body polls and the State Election Commissioner Nimmagadda Ramesh Kumar is making all the arrangements for the same. The AP government challenged this decision in the Supreme Court and the case came for hearing in the apex court today. The Supreme Court cleared all the ways and asked the Election Commission to conduct the panchayat elections in the state as per the schedule.
Notification Released For AP Local Body Polls:- The Andhra Pradesh High Court asked the Election Commission to go ahead and conduct the local body polls in the state. The State Election Commissioner Nimmagadda Ramesh Kumar today announced the notification for the first phase of the local body polls in the state. As per the announcement, the first phase of local body polls will be conducted in 11 districts of Andhra Pradesh and the elections in Vizianagaram, Prakasam districts are postponed. Ramesh Kumar said that the elections will be held following all the social distancing guidelines as per the coronavirus pandemic season.

AP High Court Grants Permission For Panchayat Polls:- In a shocking move, the High Court of Andhra Pradesh granted permission for conducting the Panchayat polls in the state. The State Election Commissioner Nimmagadda Ramesh Kumar and the state Chief Minister YS Jaganmohan Reddy are at loggerheads over conducting the panchayat polls in the state. The High Court today asked the government to move ahead with the election commission and ordered them of conducting the panchayat polls (local body polls) that are pending from the past one year in the state. The State Election Commission recently approached the High Court after the government was hesitant about the local body polls. This came as a rude shock for the government of Andhra Pradesh about the elections.

AP High Court Cancels the Schedule of AP Local Body Polls:- The drift between the government of Andhra Pradesh and the state s Chief Election Commissioner Nimmagadda Ramesh Kumar is not stopping anytime soon. Both the parties have approached courts to challenge each other. When the government was ready to conduct the local body polls in the state, Nimmagadda Ramesh Kumar was against the move citing coronavirus as the reason. This decision was appreciated by many and now when Ramesh Kumar is in plans to conduct the polls, the government opposed the decision. The Andhra Pradesh High Court today shocked the Election Commissioner Nimmagadda Ramesh Kumar against the local body polls saying that this would not be the right time to conduct the polls.
