The Pentagon on Monday identified a 34-year-old Sacramento man as one of five Army aviation special operations forces killed in a helicopter crash in the Eastern Mediterranean. 

The commander of the Army Special Operations Command, Lt. Gen. Jonathan Braga, said the fallen soldiers “hail from rare patriotic families with deep military service ties that span multiple generations and formations.”

The US military has identified the five Army special operations who were killed when their helicopter crashed in the Mediterranean Sea on Friday.

Five soldiers killed in the Black Hawk helicopter crash were part the 160th Special Operations Aviation Regiment, known as the Night Stalkers.

Staff Sgt. Tanner W. Grone, 26, of Gorham, New Hampshire, was one of five U.S. troops killed in a helicopter crash in the Eastern Mediterranean over the weekend. The military’s European Command said the UH-60 helicopter went down during an air refueling mission as part of military training.
