RESEARCH TRIANGLE PARK – Raymond Guidotti, a veteran life sciences executive who has lived in the Triangle for the past 24 years, has joined the management team of ApiJect Systems, which is building a nearly $800 million “gigafactory” in RTP for the manufacture of vaccines and injectable medicines.
Guidotti was announced as the Connecticut-based company’s chief operating officer on Thursday. He started his new role March 1.

The project was announced last November.
“As a 24-year resident of the Raleigh-Durham area, Ray will also lead our company’s integration in the area as an active corporate citizen,” said CEO Franco Negron in a statement. “He has already put his hand into the design and execution of our workforce recruitment, training, and retention efforts as our Research Triangle presence takes shape.

Life sciences companies from around the state, nation and world are expanding their capacity to manufacture pharmaceuticals and biological therapies in North Carolina.
Expansions announced in 2020 will bring more than $2.3 billion in investment and 2,800 new jobs in biopharma manufacturing to the state in coming months and years.
Ten companies will first create construction-related jobs and then bioscience jobs as they build and operationalize new or expanded plants in communities including Clayton, Durham, Greenville, Maxton, Research Triangle Park and Sanford.
