Luv Fm leads sanitary pad donation to girls in Amansie Central District

The Ghana Education Service has revealed most girls trade sex for money to buy basic necessities, including sanitary pads. As part of an intervention, Luv Fm has reached out to girls in the district with over 2,500 packs of pads in commemoration of the 2023 World Menstrual Day.

'Period poverty': Impregnated and infected with HIV at age 12 for want of sanitary pad

These are no tell-tales. These are real stories of girls and women exposed to sexual abuse and exploitation due to period poverty. Afia’s mother got sick when she was 12 years old. She had to move in to live with her aunty at Techiman where she was enrolled in a school. It was at the school she first had her menses, something she lacked knowledge about. She soiled her uniform and boys in her class made fun of her.
