I think theres a lot of disregarding of the rules in the federal government. i think the use of private e-mails, personal eems to do government business is pretty common. i think a lot of koerns with reporters happens over private e-mail, for which im grateful. its definitely a real problem that it is not a real culture of compliance with these rules in the same way theres not a culture of compliance with the freedoms of records law. >> you have to wonder whether or not the democrats are going t...

The point was that hillary clinton was also turning her e-mails over to the authorities in a timely manner. this may be something we as reporters are extra sensitive about, but the compliance with the records laws, making sure people who are conducting government business, arent doing it in the back room. thats the key. thats why we want them to use government e-mail, and if theyre going to use private e-mail, theres process for that and it needs to be turned over very rapidly. for me, the class...

Congress forever. theres life after congress. what is happening is you see among members of congress, this is part of the partisanship that i talk about all the time. these are members of congress who took an oath of office. it was not to defend their party. it was not to help their party or to pass a particular tax bill or a particular budget. the oath of office was to defend the united states and the constitution of the united states. if you lose your seat, because you stood up to do what was ...

I want to play a small portion of it for everybody. >> im not planning for it, i just think its inevitable. i think people look at elections and they try to discern things from them about what they mean at that moment and what they mean for the future. and i think that what people are going to see is so unusual for what our party has created in the last couple of years, that invas invariably people will draw from it. >> so that will catch fire nationally. >> the words hes using. >> thats a messa...

They want to broaden their appeal to young people and to different kinds of minorities, but yet they are in a little bit of a stranglehold of the conservatives and the tea party, so they are in a very tough political spot. i think ultimately the republicans in the senate will end up, a number of them will end up support of this bill, but john boehner just announced this morning that it will -- this bill will probably not see the light of day in the house. which means it wont become law, even tho...

Unfortunately, there are unscrupulous people in insurance companies, not all of them, obviously, but enough of them to be doing what they can to fool people, to get them to sign on to expensive policies they dont need. now thats mostly a matter of state regulations. some states have the ability under law to prohibit it, to fine them, to stop them and kentucky is doing that. other states dont and should get that capability. if we were operating in a normal environment, that is where the republica...

Running. >> not just to get the website exchanges up and running but to give out a lot of the information because the states arent doing it. >> in so many of these reds states there has obstruction in getting the exchanges up and running. in states where they are running weve seen success, in maryland an also kentucky. but we continue to push through this thing together. well let you go, sir. new york congressman jerrold nadler. i want to bring in the host of "hardball," chris matthews. chris, i...
