reporter: well, it s interesting, because one of the biggest questions for the world leaders who have been gathered here in madrid is how much longer they think this conflict, this war in ukraine could go on. and they really declined to put an end date on it, but the president saying, you know, we don t know when the war is going to end, but he is saying, u.s. support for ukraine will not end. but he did not say that the united states is tailoring or changing the weaponry that it s sending into ukraine because of what president zelenskyy said the other day, which is that he would like to see this war end by the end of this year. which, as you know, is just about six months away. so the president noted they are about to announce another $800 million in a military assistance. that s weaponry going into ukraine. he said it will include a lot of what it s included before, but also offensive weapons, and the president was talking just about how long this could go on, and he said this abou
higher the black population and their argument from voting rights groups and civil rights groups now as it was ten years ago when this original map was drawn is if you ll draw the lines in all these funny shapes it would be easy. you could do this. and you could do this. and you could create at least two districts dominated by black voters and create congressional districts that would favor the democrats. that s what they are arguing. if you want to take into account systemic cracism in the south, draw the lines in a way that give them more voting power, not in a way that gives them less voting power. but this court disagreed, at least for now, and said the new map, you see the line stays in place, which means it stays in place as we go into the 22 primaries and 22 general election. and it could have broader impacts on other states where you have redistricting challenges based on race. let s start the conversation with ariane devogue, our legal affairs correspondent and supreme court

on the supreme court, justices on the supreme court don t adhere to some strict ideology in the modes they use. you can find liberals using texualism. you can find conservatives on occasion doing things that smack of living constitutionalism. okay. and my hope is that we can turn the heat down as we watch these hearings and see more fairness to her in recognition of her extreme qualifications. ariane, can i circle back to this claim that she s soft on crime as republicans have tried to frame her and then there was this specific attack from josh hawley, which is misleading. he accused her of letting child porn offenders off the hook. i want you to address that claim for our viewers. what was that even based on? well, you saw him just now when his opening statement, in a very kind of gentle way. he said, look, i ve been frank.
