Cinco Saguaros located in a former barbershop/tattoo parlor will offer The Railyard’s only indoor seating.
Four repurposed shipping containers will house additional establishments, serving everything from Texas barbecue to authentic Japanese-style ramen bowls to ice cream churned on site.
The 20-foot metal boxes will line a 3,000-square-foot outdoor dining space.
Husband-wife team Kirk and Marilyn Jefferis purchased the property after the March 2020 fire gutted the former Black Angus building.
Kirk Jefferis said at the time it was simply an investment. The couple already owned the building just north at 2222 S. Sixth St. that houses The Rug Rack.
But Jefferis said the food court concept stirred childhood memories of his family taking turns on a hand-crank ice cream maker. So much so, he will be operating a business out of one of the shipping containers.
