A 48-year-old man sustained critical injuries after his wife slashed his throat following an altercation at Bariguda village in Ganjam district on Saturday night. The man, Rohit Patra, was first shifted to the sub-divisional hospital before being referred to MKCG Medical College and Hospital. He was stated to be out of danger. The woman might have taken the drastic step due to her husband's alcoholism and abusive behavior. The police have not received any complaint regarding the incident.
A man was arrested on Friday for allegedly killing his younger brother over suspicion of an illicit affair with his wife in Nelogal Tanda. The accused, Shankrappa Lamani, suspected that his brother, Hanumanthappa Lamani, had an illicit affair with his wife. This led to an arguments between the two on Friday and in a fit of rage, Shankrappa allegedly stabbed Hanumanthappa, 43. He was admitted to Haveri District Hospital for treatment but later succumbed to his injuries.
