Arlington youth camps to explore environmental leadership

Arlington youth camps to explore environmental leadership COURTESY OF RACHEL OLIVERI Middle school and high school students are invited to be part of a dynamic team this summer through the EarthCore and EcoEntrepreneurs camps run by Recycling Coordinator Charlotte Milan and School Sustainability Coordinator Rachel Oliveri. Rising sixth and seventh grade youth in EarthCore will explore natural areas in Arlington and discover what people are doing to protect and improve our natural resources. They will meet with local officials, create media messaging and learn how they can take an active role in advocating for the environment. Rising eighth and ninth grade youth in EcoEntrepreneurs will work to find solutions for a wide range of issues including ocean pollution, fast fashion and food waste. They will meet with specialists in the fields of product development and environmental planning and have the opportunity to help launch a local eco-project.

Tattersall Farm Reschedules Naturalist Boutwell s Spring Nature Walk for Sunday, May 23

Naturalist Roland “Boot” Boutwell is conducting a spring nature walk at Haverhill’s Tattersall Farm. The walk focuses on the identification of spring wildflowers and other plants and participants will observe several early flowering plants in the fields and woods. There will also be a discussion of the natural history of the plants. Rescheduled from an earlier date, the spring nature walk takes place Sunday, May 23, from 2-4 p.m., at Tattersall Farm, 542 North Broadway, Haverhill. Donations of $10 are accepted. No registration is necessary. Participants meet at 1:45 p.m. in the parking lot. Dogs are not allowed and waterproof boots are suggested. Cancellation due to inclement weather will be posted on the Tattersall Farm Facebook page.
