Qualcomm has released synthetic benchmark results of its new flagship Snapdragon 888 processor since reviewers were not able to get their hands on a reference device at the recently concluded Snapdragon Tech Summit 2020. The chip-maker announced the Snapdragon 888 on the first day of the summit as it gave a glimpse of what’s coming to the flagship smartphones of 2021.

Qualcomm Snapdragon 888 Official Benchmark Results Announced
Qualcomm announced tonight the results of a number of industry comprehensive benchmarks for the Snapdragon 888 5G mobile platform. The processor’s AnTuTu running score reached 730,000, and Geekbench single-core score is 1135 points, while the multi-core score is 3794 points.
For comparison, the current AnTuTu best score of the Snapdragon 865 is 671,000 points. It is calculated that Snapdragon 888 has increased by about 10%. Of course, the comparison here is the best result of Snapdragon 865 after one year of optimization. In this sense, the SND888 is not released yet. So there must be a lot of room for optimization.
For GeekBench, the Snapdragon 888 scored 1135 points for single-core and 3794 points for multi-core tests. Qualcomm usually announces its big end of year launch in a lavish hotel on a beach in Hawaii. Of course, things were a little different this year what with the ongoing pandemic, forcing the launch to move online for 2020. Don’t let that give you the impression Qualcomm hasn’t got anything to announce though, because it very much has.

The Snapdragon 888 is Qualcomm’s flagship chipset for Android smartphones in 2021, and the stakes have arguably never been higher. On the one hand, Apple is flexing its chip-design chops, and while Qualcomm modems may be in its current hardware, that’s not going to be the case forever. Meanwhile, Qualcomm’s Android SoC rivals aren’t standing still.
Qualcomm has pulled out all the stops for the Snapdragon 888, then, even skipping ahead in its nomenclature to borrow some traditional Chinese good luck in the process. Were 2020 a normal year, we’d have had a chance to play with the company’s Snapdragon reference design, Qualcomm’s demo hardware for developers and engineers to tinker with the specs.
