Two people appeared before Cork City District Court earlier today following an aggravated burglary in the early hours of yesterday morning. 

The injured man was brought to Cork University Hospital with non-life threatening injuries and was later discharged. The incident was later reported to Detective Gardaí in Bishopstown and an investigation commenced, with Gardaí gathering CCTV from the area. On 16 January, Gardaí from the Serious Crime Units at Togher, Bishopstown and Douglas Garda Stations, with the assistance of the Armed Support Unit, carried out searches at two properties in Cork city but no arrests were made. Garda attacked and injured by dog while making an arrest in Dublin

A man in his 20’s whose pit bull dog bit an armed garda in the groin when officers stormed his home is suspected of being on a crime spree because he owes a “significant debt.”

George Nkencho, who died after being shot by armed gardaí outside his home in Clonee on December 30, sustained six gunshot wounds and not four as previously thought, his post-mortem has found. The interim cause of death of Mr Nkencho, who had no previous convictions, was found to be two fatal gunshots to vital organs.
