Area schools are starting those tough conversations with students to let them know they are not alone and help is available. The nonprofit organization, "Say Something" partnered with the Golden Triangle Dream Center to perform an engaging assembly at Armstrong Junior High in Starkville.
Deon Kirkwood is an eighth grader at Armstrong Junior High in Starkville where he is known as "Mr. Armstrong" for his mighty spirit. Right now, he is at Le Bonheur Children's Hospital in Memphis, where he is awaiting a heart transplant.
The 2022-23 accountability ratings from the Mississippi Department of Education show Columbus Municipal, Lowndes County and Starkville-Oktibbeha Consolidated districts all maintained their ratings from the prior year.
The Starkville-Oktibbeha Consolidated School District board will soon begin a facilities study to determine upgrade needs at its campuses and whether to build a new high school.
