Sri Lanka : Laksanda Sevana Housing Scheme removed from isolation, two more areas isolated

Dec 24, Colombo: Head of the National Operations Center for the Prevention of the Spread of COVID-19, Army Commander Lieutenant General Shavendra Silva has informed that the Laksanda Sevana Housing Scheme in the Wellampitiya Police Division in the Colombo District has been lifted from isolation from 6.00 am today (24th December). It has also been decided to isolate the Trincomalee Abhayapura Grama Niladhari Division and the Dinanagar area from 6.00 am Thursday (24). The Sri Lanka Army launched ‘Sri Lanka Army Way Forward Strategy 2020-2025’ (SLAWFS) policy document at the Army headqurters yesterday in the presence of Chief Guest, Principal Advisor to the President Lalith Weeratunge and Secretary Defence Major General (Retd) Kamal Gunaratne together with the project’s visionary, Chief of Defence Staff and Army Commander Lieutenant General Shavendra Silva,. The SLAWFS, a sustained and collective effort of civil-military scholars for more than 10 months is slated to explore and assist upgrade the Army military strategy for the next five years with special focus on modernisation taking place in the defence spectrum world-wide, amid multiple and complex global threat landscapes to be in line with fast changing and multifaceted global conditions and circumstances.

After the formal review of the parade, the Chief Guest on behalf of the Commander in chief of the Armed Forces awarded most prestigious President’s Commissioning Swords to the Officer Cadets, symbolising their much-admired commissions before receiving the salute from the new officers in the colourful parade.
