The freedomclass Littoral Combat ship. matt for the last 19months, workers at a shipyard in wisconsin have worked to build the newest lcs, the uss sioux city. Last month, i got rare access to the shipbuilding process. And to see the ship, up close. The sioux city. So, right now, the crew can simulate reallife situations. Theyre not going to let us take the ship underway if were not ready, ralston said. Like navigation and propulsion. Four water jet engigis push the sioux city through the water like a jet ski. One of the most challenging things to learn is the very complicated engineering plant,ralston said. We want to be able to operate that as safely and effectively as we can. Today in atlanta nearly a dozen former educators were convicted on racketeering and other charges for their part in one of the nations biggest cheating scandals. Prosecutors say it was a massive conspiracy to make sure students passed standardized tests even if it meant giving kids the correct answers. The scandal dates back a decade.
