Mumbai: The Bombay high court asked the Mumbai police on Wednesday that since the latter claimed to have adequate evidence against Republic TV and its editor in chief Arnab Goswami in the alleged television rating points (TRP) scam, why had they not named them as accused in the case.

The News Broadcasters Association (NBA) on Monday expressed its shock and disappointment to see hundreds of WhatsApp messages that have been exchanged between Republic TV editor-in-chief Arnab Goswami and former Broadcast Audience Research Council (BARC) head Partho Dasgupta and demanded the suspension of the Indian Broadcasting Foundation (IBF) membership of Republic TV with immediate effect.
In a statement, the Rajat Sharma-headed NBA said it is shocked to see hundreds of WhatsApp messages that have been exchanged between BARC India s former CEO Partho Dasgupta and Arnab Goswami, Managing Director, ARG Outlier Media Pvt. Ltd .

New Delhi, Jan 17: Opposition has demanded a high-level probe into the purported WhatsApp chat between Republic TV editor Arnab Goswami and former Broadcast Audience Research Council (BARC) CEO Partho Dasgupta in which the former is alleged to have told the incarcerated executive that India would strike at Pakistan three days before the actual airstrike.

Republic TV, challenging the Mumbai policeâs investigation into the rigging of TRPs by private TV news channels. The scam was unearthed last year after the Broadcast Audience Research Council, an industry body owned by top broadcasters and advertisers which measures TRPs, filed a complaint that certain channels were rigging their TRP numbers, apparently to generate more revenue from ads.
