The Empire State Winter Games kick off Thursday night with opening ceremonies in Lake Placid.

The lawsuit was filed by several property owners about three months after the village and town established a joint short-term rental law in March 2020.

Governor Hochul announced the official kick-off to the One-Year Out Celebration for the Lake Placid 2023 FISU World University Games. 

The Lake Placid village board plans to opt out of the states law allowing sales of recreation marijuana, but village officials may put the issue to voters.
