Toronnto councillors have agreed to rename Yonge-Dundas Square, two subway stations and a library but will pause expensive work to rename the street itself.

The renaming of Dundas Street will be up for discussion at Toronto City Hall this week as councillors meet for the final time this year.

Last week, Art Eggleton, John Sewell and David Crombie released a joint letter stating that they question the interpretation of the research leading to city council’s decision to rename Dundas Street. 

Three former Toronto mayors say that the city should revisit its plan to rename Dundas Street after raising questions about the interpretation of the research that led to this decision and the “practicality of carrying it out.”
