I’ve spent my first month as Texas Tribune CEO getting to know the Tribune and its staff while we focus on this year’s legislative session and issues that affect people across the state.

It’s been fun. It’s been real. It’s been a calling more than a job. And it’s been an honor — the honor of my lifetime.

The Wyoming congresswoman and vice chair of the Jan. 6 committee is the grand finale of this year’s Texas Tribune Festival. With a critical election looming and another one just over the rise, she’ll talk about the state of our democracy in the final conversation of our jam-packed ideas conference.

The U.S. transportation secretary will formally kick off The Texas Tribune Festival in a conversation about highways, airports, rail, charging stations, water, broadband and the road ahead for the Biden administration.

More than 100 sessions over three jam-packed days. More than 350 speakers. A focus on our cities, our state, our country and our world. The deep dive into politics, policy and democracy that Texas needs right now.

He will relentlessly advocate for our existing audience and work to reach the Texans who do not yet know about us.

We’re hiring reporters to cover the Panhandle/South Plains and East Texas, along with a regional editor. We hope to also place staff in the Rio Grande Valley and the Permian Basin.
