Uruguays National Administration of Power Plants and Electrical Transmissions (UTE) has restored power supply at the South American countrys Artigas Scientific Base in Antarctica, it was reported Monday in Montevideo. The service had been interrupted between Thursday at 2.28 pm and late Sunday.

The Uruguayan Air Forces Lockheed C-130 Hercules FAU 594 carrying President Luis Lacalle Pou and his children landed at the South American countrys Artigas Base (BCAA) in Antarctica on Tuesday. After 30 years, I have returned to Antarctica. The Artigas base houses military and civilians who work side by side, Lacalle wrote on social networks.

An Uruguayan Air Force Hercules C-130 aircraft landed at the Artigas Base in Antarctica carrying some 40 scientists for the 2022-2023 campaign to work on 18 projects, marking the 37th anniversary of Uruguays entry as a consultative member of the Antarctic Treaty System.
