The city of Appleton came out to recognize its fallen military heroes with a Memorial Day program at the city cemetery and the dedication of the Streets of Honor Portraits public art project.
Appleton artists Kerry Kolke-Bonk and Katia Andreeva offered a first look at the portraits they are creating of the veterans from the community who gave their lives for home and country.
Appleton, Minnesota, remembers its veterans who gave their lives by naming its streets and avenues in their memory. Now, two artists are creating portraits for public display of each of the 36 veterans.
