Pennsylvania has 750 public high schools in 636 school districts. According to U.S. News, they reviewed nearly 25,000 U.S. public schools with 665 Pennsylvania schools making their ranking. These are the top public schools in the Midstate, according to U.S. News.

Teams from public, private and charter high schools across the state participated.

York Suburban, which ranks 1,032 nationally with an overall score of 94.22, is ranked No. 34 within Pennsylvania. With a high school enrollment of 942 students, 39 percent took at least one AP test and 35 percent passed at least one AP test. The total minority enrollment is 27 percent and 28 percent of students are economically disadvantaged. Hershey High School earned the highest spot for central PA schools in the latest rankings from U.S. News and World Report, coming it at No. 22 in the state. Among the 711 state high schools reviewed in the annual best high schools report, 28 in the Top 200 were from central PA.
