A US-built pier helping to deliver vital aid to Palestinians on the brink of famine broke less than two weeks after its installation, so what happens now?

The UN Special Coordinator for the Middle East Peace Process on Wednesday urgently called for an immediate return to negotiations, the release of hostages and a humanitarian ceasefire in the Gaza Strip, as the Israeli military assault exacerbates human suffering amid rising regional tensions.

The Pentagon says the U.S.-built temporary pier taking humanitarian aid to starving Palestinians has been damaged in rough seas and weather and will be removed from the coast of Gaza

The pier, which is used to carry humanitarian aid arriving by sea, is one of the few ways that food and other supplies are getting to Palestinians.

The pier broke apart and will take more than a week to rebuild, Pentagon says

Renewed Israeli shelling and strikes have killed at least 37 people, most of them sheltering in tents, outside the southern Gaza city of Rafah.
