Deputy Jennifer Whitmore has called on the Department of Education to resolve the outstanding issues of school bus shortages for students attending schools in Wicklow after it was revealed that 90 students still do not have a bus place.
Although Wicklow Men s Shed has been unable to meet at its usual Dispensary Lane venue because of Covid, that hasn t stopped members from doing their bit to help the local community.
Members of the local shed painted two bright and colourful buddy benches for The glebe NS on Church Hill with paint sponsored by The Brass Fox after being approached by the school committee.
Tom McInerney said: We were asked to paint some benches for the children in various colours to help brighten them up. The benches are a sort of friendship bench and provide a way to bond children attending the school together. We were delighted to help out and the school was very happy with the results.
