Town Sign Dutch Kids - Ipswich Town News

Town have signed two Dutch youngsters for their growing Academy. The Dutch youngsters will compete for places in the U17 and U19 sides competing in the Premier Academy Leagues for the first time. Town are going further afield for yougsters both within the UK and outside. There is controversy in Cambridgshire over Town attempting to poach youngsters from under the noses of the local clubs.

Reserves 4-0 Forest Friday, 4th May 2001 17:45 Town s reserves redeemed themselves after Wednesday s 6-3 defeat to Charlton with a thoroughly professional win over Nottingham Forest. Town left out Gary Croft, Richard Naylor and Mark Burchill from Wednesday s team while Forst included Town old boy Tony Vaughan. Town s first effort was an Abidallah shot saved bt Collis in the Forest goal. The Dutchman, who was playing up front with Richard Logan had another go a few minutes later but shot well over. In the fifteenth minute Ashley Nicholls put Town one up. Richard Logan hit a shot which Collis couldn t hold and Nicholls was on hand for the rebound.

Substitute Darren Bent spurned two excellent chances in the second half, as Ipswich looked to level up Tom Hutchinson s early strike for the hosts. Fulham s Stewart Noble scored the decisive second goal late on to kill off Ipswich s plucky challenge. Both sides featured players looking to force their way into the Premiership encounter a week today at Portman Road.
