Sri Lanka is Open for Tourist Arrivals: Foreign Minister Dinesh Gunawardena informs ACD Member States at the 17th Ministerial Meeting - Permanent Mission of Sri Lanka to the UN Geneva Switzerland

The Permanent Mission of Sri Lanka to the United Nations Office at Geneva was established in June 1965. The first Ambassador/Permanent Representative of Sri Lanka (then Ceylon), Mr Rex Koelmeyer presented credentials on 23 June 1965.The present Ambassador/Permanent Representative H.E. Mr. Ravinatha Aryasinha presented credentials on 19 July 2012. The Mission functions as the Permanent delegation of Sri Lanka to all UN and other international organizations in Switzerland including the World Trade Organization. It also has concurrent accreditation as Sri Lanka s Embassy to the Holy See.The Mission represents Sri Lanka s national interests in various UN and other international organizations based in Switzerland. The Consulate General of Sri Lanka, housed in the Mission premises, provides various consular assistance to the approximately 35,000-strong Sri Lankan community in Switzerland. The Sri Lanka Embassy in Germany has concurrent accreditation to Switzerland.

On Western Media Bias and the need for New Global Thought Leaders Monday, January 25 At the very beginning of this year, James Murdoch expounded in the  Financial Times on what he sees as a massive deterioration of the credibility of independence in Western media.  His strongly worded statement, which castigated the US media for the “toxic politics” threatening American democracy, said that proprietors are as culpable as politicians who “know the truth but choose instead to propagate lies”. The power of media is immense and has always been influential in politics. However, there has been a shift towards the ultra-partisan, and censorship or the drowning out of alternative views, often substituting the real for the idiotic, or at the very least to hold the prevailing line at the cost of all dissenting voices.

Qatar participates in 17th ministerial meeting of Asian Cooperation Dialogue

The State of Qatar yesterday participated in the 17th ministerial meeting of the Asian Cooperation Dialogue, which was held under the presidency of the Turkish Republic through visual communication technology. Qatar was represented at the meeting by Minister of State for Foreign Affairs, H E Sultan bin Saad Al Muraikhi.
