Santa takes to his tractor to turn on lights for Askamore locals

Christmas came in full swing to Askamore after Santa Claus arrived to see all the children, with his vehicle of choice being a tractor. The tractor run drew a good crowd to see Santa turn on the Christmas lights, and entertainment was provided by the Askamore choir. After a lot of work and preparation, the excitement and anticipation was huge in the area as the crowd got into the spirit of Christmas. Helen Kearney of the organising group said that plans for the event began as early as Hallowe en. We decided that we would try to brighten up Askamore for Christmas as it has been such a miserable year, especially for the kids of the community. So we set up a GoFundMe page and initially set the target at €1,500. We then increased this target to €2,500 when donations from local people and businesses began to flood in. As the donations grew, so did the plans and we decided, as we are a farming community, to incorporate a festive tractor run where the best-dressed tractor would win
