Guwahati (Assam) [India], May 1 (ANI): After three high-octane phases of polling and election rallies filled with enthusiastic supporters, the results of the Assam Assembly polls will be announced tomorrow by the election commission.
Incumbent Chief Minister Sarbananda Sonowal of the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) is seeking a second term after a thumping win in the 2016 elections where the party ended Tarun Gogoi-led Congress 15-year rule, when it won 86 out of 126 seats.
This year, the main contest is between the alliances led by the BJP and Congress.
The BJP-led led alliance also includes the Asom Gana Parishad (AGP) and United People s Party Liberal (UPPL).

New Delhi [India], May 2 (ANI): Counting of votes for high-stake assembly polls will take place on Sunday in Assam, Kerala, Tamil Nadu, West Bengal and Puducherry in accordance with COVID-19 protocols. The Election Commission has made necessary arrangements for counting.
The counting is taking place amid an unprecedented surge in COVID-19 cases in the country. Counting will also take place for bypolls to four parliamentary and 13 assembly seats. The outcome of assembly polls is likely to have implications for politics at national level.

Guwahati (Assam) [India], April 6 (ANI): Polling for the third and final phase of the tea-garden state of Assam began on Tuesday morning with security arrangements in place.
To boost the morale, Mekhela Chadors (a popular Assamese saree) have been given to women polling personnel in Goalpara. Special counters for the convenience of women polling personnel set up in Goalpara; training and confidence-building conducted. As many as 320 Central Armed Police Forces (CAPF) companies have been deployed to ensure a free and fair election in the state.

NEW DELHI: The stage is set for the busiest day of the ongoing election season with all the five states/UT West Bengal, Kerala, Assam, Tamil Nadu and Puducherry going to polls on April 6.
The polling will be held in a single-phase in Kerala, Tamil Nadu and Puducherry while Assam will witness its third and final round of voting on Tuesday. In Bengal, this will be the third round in the eight-phase elections ending April 29.

Guwahati (Assam) [India], April 5 (ANI): Assam is all set to go into the last phase of polling on Tuesday. This phase will decide the fate of 337 candidates across 40 constituencies of 12 districts in the state, including the senior minister and Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) leader Hemanta Biswa Sarma in the Jalukbari constituency.
There are a total of 12 female candidates and 325 male candidates in the fray, whose fates will be decided by 79,19,641 general electors in the third phase. Of these, 40,11,539 are males, 39,07,963 females and 139 are other genders. There are also 24,460 are service voters.
