The Guwahati Municipal Corporation (GMC) has initiated the construction of new bus queue shelters at various locations across the city. Mayor Mrigen Sarania announced the foundation for these shelters at Ananda Nagar and Sixth Mile on GS Road, with a six-month deadline for completion. The shelters will be installed in 45 locations based on need and condition. Modern facilities and amenities will be included in these aluminium bus shelters.

The demolition of the old Lakhtokia bridge in Guwahati has caused traffic congestion between Paltanbazar and Panbazar.
