Davenport, IA- Davenport Police have announced the arrest of a man in connection with a shooting incident that left one person dead and another seriously injured. According to a news release, on Thursday, January 5th, at about 2:19 AM, Davenport Police, Fire, and Medic EMS responded to the area of Third and Pine Streets in reference to reports of multiple shots fired. Upon arrival, officers located two individuals with gunshot wounds. A 40-year-old male was transported to a local hospital where they were later pronounced dead. A second individual, a 33-year-old male was transported to a local hospital with serious injuries. Following an investigation, 28-year-old Zachary L. Beverlin was arrested and charged with 1st Degree Murder, Willful Injury with Serious Injury, Assault While Participating in a Felony, Going Armed With Intent, and Felon in Possession of a Firearm in relation to the incident. The identity of the deceased is being withheld pending notification of the family.
Keokuk, IA- A Keokuk man has pleaded guilty to Theft and Assault charges in connection with an April robbery. The Pen City Current reports that 38-year-old Casey Alexander Young of Keokuk plead guilty Tuesday, November 8th, to 1st Degree Theft and Assault While Participating in a Felony. The charges stem from an incident on April 26th, 2022 at Two Rivers Bank in Keokuk. During the incident, Young wore a mask and demanded money from the teller. Young was immediately sentenced to 10 years in prison.
