Yamunanagar: RSS leader Darshan Lal Jain, who dedicated his life to social work, died on Monday at the age of 93. Jain, who was also involved in the work to find the mythical river Saraswati, passed away at his residence in Jagadhri in Haryana s Yamunanagar district. He is survived by two sons and two daughters.
He was cremated with state honours. A contingent of police presented guard of honour as a mark of respect to the departed soul.

Congress MLA from Haryana’s Kalka constituency Pradeep Chaudhary stands disqualified from January 14, after his conviction by a Himachal Pradesh court in an assault, rioting case.
Haryana Assembly Speaker Gian Chand Gupta on Saturday said a notification in this regard has been issued by the Assembly secretariat. “Consequent upon the conviction of Pradeep Chaudhary, MLA, by the court of Jitender Kumar, Judicial Magistrate Ist Class, Nalagarh, District Solan…Shri Pradeep Chaudhary, stands disqualified from the membership of Haryana Vidhan Sabha from the date of his conviction, ie January 14, 2021. And accordingly one Assembly seat has fallen vacant,” read the notification.

Congress mayoral candidate Upinder Kaur Ahluwalia and former deputy chief minister Chander Mohan Tuesday released a 20-point manifesto of Congress for Panchkula Municipal Corporation elections.
The manifesto focuses on all-round development of Panchkula by improving basic amenities for all sections of society.
The manifesto mentions management of health and hygiene keeping in mind Covid pandemic as first focus will be to control the disease effectively.

Congress Mayoral candidate from Panchkula Municipal Corporation elections Upinder Kaur Ahluwalia on Friday hit out at the BJP for claiming that she did not allow development in the city.
“In reality, it is BJP which put hurdles in the path of development rather than supporting it. Nobody could deny the development works carried out by us during our last tenure at Panchkula MC,” she said.
She further said: “Panchkula people have seen my work. We are here to serve them again.”
Talking about shifting of the garbage dumping site away from residential areas, she said that she prompted passed a resolution in the matter during her time, though however it was not executed further.
