PTI leads as vote counting begins in AJK’s Bagh

MIRPUR: The Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) was leading on Thursday in Azad Jammu and Kashmir’s (AJK) Bagh-3 constituency, according to unofficial and preliminary results, as votes counting was under way after re-polling was held in four locations of LA-16.
The main contenders were PTI’s Sardar Ameer Akbar and Pakistan Peoples Party’s (PPP) Sardar Qamar Zaman. The PTI candidate was leading, at the time of this report, Geo News reported.
The count began after re-polling in the four stations of LA-16 Bagh-3 constituency concluded. Polling activity began at 8.00 in the morning and continued till 5.00pm without any pause or incident. Polling in the four polling stations was halted on July 25 due to some disturbances, state media reported.

The stage is set for counting of votes on Sunday morning for seven Assembly constituencies in Virudhunagar district, the outcome of which will decide the fate of 149 candidates in the fray.
The process will start at 8 a.m. with counting of postal votes in seven halls by the counting staff in the presence of Assistant Returning officer and counting agents. After a gap of 30 minutes, counting of votes from the control units of 2,370 electronic voting machines will be taken up.

THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: The Chief Electoral Officer (CEO) has issued Covid guidelines to be followed on counting day on May 2. District Election Officers (District Collectors) have been designated as Nodal Officers who will ensure that counting centres comply with Covid protocol. They will be assisted by Nodal Health Officers.
Candidates or counting agents will not be allowed entry into the centres unless they undergo RT-PCR test 48 hours prior to the counting day or produce Rapid Antigen negative test result. Those who have received two doses of the Covid vaccine will also be allowed entry. District Election Officers have been asked to make arrangements for RT-PCR or rapid antigen tests for candidates and counting agents.
