SIOUX FALLS – The American Association’s Sioux Falls Canaries have been sold.
Brian Slipka, a Sioux Falls native and founder of Minneapolis-based True North Equity Partners, has purchased the team, along with two entrepreneurs, Anthony Albanese and Sam Swartz, the co-founders of Duke Cannon Supply Company, a seller of men’s grooming products. Albanese and Swartz are also based in Minneapolis.
Mark Ogren and Tom Garrity, also both based in the Twin Cities, said just after the Canaries’ loss in the 2020 American Association Championship Series that they wanted to sell the team to local ownership. Garrity will remain with the team as a consultant. General Manager Duell Higbe will stay in his position.
