South-Central Ohio Joins Forces to Provide Hope to Lung Cancer Patients, Fund Life-saving Research

CINCINNATI, OH | May 11, 2021 The American Lung Association in Ohio announced that it is hosting a virtual LUNG FORCE Run/Walk throughout South-Central Ohio for the entire month of May.   “As the pandemic is slowly getting better, we are encouraging everyone in South-Central Ohio to go outside and get active to support those suffering from lung disease and grow awareness of the number one cancer killer, lung cancer,” said Laura Metzler, Executive Director of the Lung Association.   WHAT: The virtual LUNG FORCE Run/Walk is a fundraising event that features weekly interactive challenge videos and a live Zoom celebration which includes prizes for challenge participants, group wellness activities, and LUNG FORCE Heroes and their stories. An email with the weekly challenge will be sent to all registered participants on Saturday May 1, May 8, May 15, and May 22. Alumni Weekend events set for April 16-18 UNG will hold a Reunite on the River event at Pine Valley at noon April 17. This photo is from the 2019 Alumni Weekend event at Pine Valley. The University of North Georgia (UNG) Alumni Weekend will take on a different feel in 2021, but many of the weekend s most popular events will remain in place April 16-18. While we continue to follow CDC guidelines, and respect those who are not yet ready to come to Dahlonega, many alumni are telling us they are ready for safe engagement, said Wendi Huguley, director of the Alumni Association. It is with this in mind that we have scheduled a fabulous weekend that is largely outdoors and allows for maximum spacing.

Exhibitions that can now be viewed once more include Tutankhamon: Journey to eternity at the Galleria delle Carrozze, Palazzo Medici Riccardi, and Henry Moore at the Museo Novecento as well as a whole host of other cultural favourites at the Uffizi, Palazzo Pitti, Boboli Gardens, Palazzo Vecchio, Torre di Arnolfo, Museo Bardini, Brancacci Chapel and the Santa Maria Novella Museum that s currently hosting Massimo Sestini s photographic show based on Dante. The museums listed will be open on weekdays and only in regions classed as yellow zones (medium-low risk of Covid-19 infection).
