The police said that Mohammad Afzal, a resident of Prayagraj, alleged that he came to know that some people were trying to grab his land in Kareli area of the district.
Hearing a petition filed by Ansari’s wife Afsha Ansari in 2021, the court told the concerned officials, including the state director general of police, to provide “full security” to him while shifting him from one jail to another and while producing him before any court from jail and on the way or any other place.
Three cellphones were also confiscated for the purpose of investigation from the house of Khan Shoulat Hanif, who is lodged in the Naini Central Jail in Prayagraj since March.
The petition filed by advocate Vishal Tiwari has sought the setting up of an independent committee under a retired Supreme Court judge to probe the killings.
