Ole Miss volleyball loses to rival Mississippi State

2 min read Ole Miss volleyball fell to the Mississippi State Bulldogs in Starkville this weekend after taking them on twice. The Rebels lost the games to the Bulldogs, 0-3 and 1-3. On Friday, Feb. 12, the Rebels started up 5-2 in the first set, but they were unable to catch back up after the Bulldogs caught fire and went on a 4-0 run. Ole Miss fell short in the three straight sets. Although the Rebels lost, four players on the Ole Miss team finished the day with five or more kills. Freshman Samantha Schnitta led the team with seven kills on the day, and Sasha Ratliff led the team at the net with five blocks on Friday.

UM volleyball to face rival Mississippi State

2 min read The Ole Miss volleyball team will travel to Starkville on Thursday, Feb. 11, to take on in-state rivals, the Mississippi State Bulldogs. Ole Miss is still looking for its first victory of the season, as the Rebels are currently on a 10-game losing streak. Meanwhile, the Mississippi State Bulldogs haven’t been faring much better in the 2021 spring season. They tally two wins on the season, which puts them at 2-8. The Rebels are coming off of a tough loss to Alabama after battling all five sets in both games. Freshman Samantha Schnitta recorded her second career double-double with 18 kills and 10 digs in their Friday game against the Tide on Feb. 5. Freshman GG Carvacho followed closely behind with 16 kills and four added blocks. During the Saturday matchup, sophomore Anna Bair led the Rebels with 21 kills. Freshman Sasha Ratliff also had 15 kills and nine big blocks during the game.

Ole Miss volleyball continues looking for its first victory of the season

2 min read The Ole Miss volleyball team will take on Alabama at home this Friday at 12 p.m. and Saturday at 2 p.m. for its second matchup of the spring season.   Alabama is currently ranked at No. 11 in the SEC, going 2-8 on the season so far, and Ole Miss is right behind the Crimson Tide at No. 12 , going 0-8 on the season.    The Rebels are ready to bounce back after getting swept by Florida last weekend. Co-captains senior Bayleigh Scott and junior Aubrey Sultemeier are looking to lead their team to a victory  against the Crimson Tide. Freshman Samantha Schnitta is another player expected to have a successful performance and currently leads the team with 64 kills, 60 digs and 15 service aces. Sultemeier has looked promising, as well, with 60 kills so far this season. She needs 29 more blocks to enter the top 10 for total blocks in the rally-scoring era.

Volleyball loses to No 10 Florida over the weekend

1 min read The Ole Miss Volleyball team were defeated by No. 10 Florida this weekend, losing both games 3-0 on Friday and Saturday. This marks the third time this season that the Rebels faced a top-10 opponent.   In the matchup on Friday, the Gators tallied 39 kills and hit for .431 on the day. The Rebels put 30 kills up on the board, but ultimately, they beat themselves with 22 errors throughout the game and only hit .101 on the day.  Sophomore Anna Bair started the match strong with a service ace to put the Rebels in an early 5-3 lead before the Gators tied it up and made it a very close match. Junior Aubrey Sultemeier led the Rebels with seven kills, closely followed by freshman GG Carvacho and Bair who each had six kills and one ace.
