We have to admit that the pre-race part of this adventure doesn't look promising for the Audi. While the Plymouth Hemi Cuda (not sure if this is an original) next to it turns its massive rear tires into smoke, the RS3 Sedan seems to struggle with a handbrake-aided maneuver that only allows the AWD machine to spin its front wheels.

Let s talk about the elephant in the room, also known as the asterisk in the title. Yes, the Audi RS3 Sedan can develop up to 850 hp according to its owner, but given the conditions, the same owner decided on limiting boost in an attempt to keep traction under control. 9 photos
Just in case the gray sky and the puddles on the road haven t given it away already, this is another confrontation put together by Officially Gassed s Jamie in the wonderful British winter weather. But, hey, it could have been worse: it could have snowed, which obviously would have meant no race at all.

When somebody outside the drag racing realm thinks of a car that can bring jaws to the sticky surface of the track, the Audi RS3 probably isn t the first model that comes to mind. However, those who know their quarter-mile sprints are well aware of the platform s potential, with the drag race we have here only coming to confirm that. 5 photos
We re talking about the now-old RS3 (while the A3 has already received a new generation last year, we ll have to wait for this fall to get the new RS model). Long story short, following a trip to the gym, the RS3 can become a 9-second car.

Engines with an odd number of cylinders are a rarity as it is, with the low-end three-bangers being among the only ones still flying the flag, but these two Audis stubbornly refuse to give up on this layout and go for something more conventional.
It ll be a sad day when they do because no one really expects these relatively small cars to house a V6 under their hood, which makes a four-cylinder the only viable option. Power-wise that wouldn t necessarily be a bad thing - just look at the 421 hp Mercedes-AMG gets out of its two-liter unit in the A 45 S hatchback, which is 21 hp more than the output of the current 2.5-liter five-cylinder engine from Audi.
