On November 27, two teams of seven and five men who are experts in the technique of rat-hole mining were called in by two private companies involved in the rescue operation after an auger machine got stuck in the rubble.

The operation to rescue 41 workers trapped inside the collapsed Silkyara tunnel in Uttarakhands Uttarkashi district was halted after the platform supporting the auger machine which is drilling through the debris collapsed on Thursday evening.
